The windows are wide open, my lemongrass candles are lit, there's an old TV series playing in the background, and I'm cosily nestled with my favourite mug of hot tea.

I haven't felt this inspired and enthusiastic about creating in such a long time, as my circumstances have most definitely shifted in the last year or two. I no longer work as a full-time artist! Instead, I draw in the early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
To be completely honest, I discovered that being full-time self-employed was quite overwhelming. I felt an immense amount of anxiety, constantly worried about earning enough money to make ends meet and help support my family.
It dawned on me (after many cries into my husband's arms) that this isn't a sign of weakness or failure. I had the ability and strength to acknowledge when things are no longer working, to reflect, and make necessary adjustments when I needed to. A weight had been lifted off my shoulders.

Creating my artwork now brings me a sense of freedom. Drawing has become a hobby once again, igniting a special spark within me, where I feel safe to express myself in a peaceful and serene state. I can't tell you how much this has helped me heal after being so unwell for the majority of 2023.
Art really is my therapy.
